Poem - "Dream Girl"

She leapt upon my heart in a moment
Her ways with my psyche were quite potent
With eyes of pure hazel, and hair to match
My every heartbeat she soon did catch

With skin so fair and an alluring smile,
Her beautiful visage did quite beguile
A youthful form, petite and so tender,
An enchanting girl of untold splendor

As days went by, we laughed and made merry
But as we played, others became wary
Her seventeen and I twenty, they cried
Too old was I, too young was she, they lied

Yet my father and my mother approved
Nonplussed, the multitude yet still reproved
A mob soon formed, they wanted us both gone
But my parents want us to carry on

We flee with their aid and soon make great haste
Into the room we dash, no time to waste!
We look upon each other, face to face
Close our eyes and together we embrace

My eyes then slam open, and soon I find
All her delights, crafted from my own mind
I turn over in bed, and so it seems
I am alone, left her within my dreams
