Poem - "Knight"

Hoofbeat echoed across the wintry glade,
As knight rode on wielding his hallowed blade
Darkness had spread across the fabled land,
And had spared not child nor woman nor man

Steed then pressed on to a village of old,
Lost now to time and demon’s wicked cold
Knight slowly raised his gaze to distant sky,
And did ponder the cruel fate’s how and why

Soon to ruined castle the knight drew near,
A place he had not seen in many year
In these broken halls did demon reside;
As though in wait, the doors soon opened wide

He stood now in the chamber of the beast,
It glared at him as though ready to feast
The battle was swift, and his blade struck true;
Demon was at last slain, thus paid it’s due

The clouds parted, and sun shone bright at last
Shining light had now come, wickedness past
Kingdom was saved, returning from zero
By the noble deed of nameless hero
